Panajachel Bars: Rumba

With the only white sand beach and bonfire in Panajachel's zona viva, Rumba is one of the top bars that make up the lively Panajachel nightlife scene. The bar scene often starts and ends here, because Rumba: has the longest happy hour in Guatemala. That means two for one drinks from noon until 8 PM, six days a week. The place where nightlife begins in the afternoon.

Under a broad open air palapa, the bar is the perfect spot for watching "the parade" of tourists, locals, wanna be locals, Maya and other people as they stroll up and down Calle Principal just before it runs into Santander.

A smaller palapa provides shade for tables where you can enjoy fast and tasty bar food such as nachos, quesadillas, tacos, and pinchos (kebobs). From noon until four, it is home of Pana Meats, with the best USA-style hot and cold sanwiches.

Panajachel Nightlife: The Bar Scene

There are plenty of bars and clubs in Panajachel, but Rumba offers a unique setting for drinking and partying. Music ranges from solid rock and roll to reggae, and the places really starts jumping in the evening and often lasts until dawn..

When not drinking, eating and meeting people from around the world as well as Guatemala, you can pass the time playing cards, dominoes and other games provided by the bar. Free Wi-Fi is also available. The new white sand beach features covered tables and bonfire in the evening.

Rumba has the biggest dance floor in town, and every night is ladies night. The disco also has a variety of drinks specials, and there is no cover charge on Thursdays and Fridays, when happy hours (two for one drinks) run from 9-11 PM. The friendly staff makes Rumba two of the town's places to party.
