Love Boat Sinks at Lake Atitlan

“It was coming right at us!” said Moe Wright III, describing how the Loch Ness monster (Atitlan Sol, January, 2009) attacked the Love Boat on its Valentine's Day Cruise at Lake Atitlan (Atitlan Sol, February, 2009).

Wright, who had been hired as Safety Director for the cruise after the Love Boat crashed into his kayak the previous Tuesday, related what happened after the Loch Ness monster spooked the captain, crew and passengers. (Weirdanimalogists suggest the monster was really just looking for a cheap date.)

Back to the Island

The Love Boat, attempting to escape the creature, crashed into San Somewhere, the new volcanic island that emerged in Lake Atitlan in late January (Atitlan Sol, December, 2008), and capsized.

"The captain and crew did everything they could," he said, relating how bravely they had rearranged the deck chairs while the ship sank off San Pedro, in full view of the crowd on the Buddha Bar’s rooftop terrace.

Passengers and crew swam ashore to the island of San Somewhere and immediately opened a hostel, two tiki bars, five "3 tacos x Q10" restaurants and a real estate company.
