Internet Cafes: Ideas Connection

If I didn’t have a life, I’d be at Idea Connection all the time. Coffee and computers...the same kind of mix I became used to after years of university and teaching. And this internet cafe has all the conveniences of home and much more.

The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed. Under a palapa in the garden, I can bring my laptop and surf the Web on their free Wi-Fi, or even get hooked up to a connection while enjoying the beauty and bustle of San Pedro. Or I can read a free newspaper while having coffee and dessert.

Coffees include cappuccino and express, With it I can have a yummy breakfast or lunch croissant or satisfy my sweet tooth with pastry or chocolate. All are reasonably priced and delicious. Licuados and beer are also available. And something else you don’t see much of around here: complimentary water.

Inside, the cafe has for me the nostalgic feel of a library. Clients tend to lower their voices and the feel is studious, busy. For eight quetzales an hour, I can use one of the six normally fast and friendly house computers, each in a carol of its own ensuring privacy.

Computers run on Windows XP and have a wide assortment of software, such as I-Tunes, Live Messenger, and Firefox. Clients are welcome to download whatever they might need.

Pretty much any accessory you might want is available: headphones, a color printer, scanner, and so on. You can buy blank CD’s and DVD’s or use a USB drive. Virus protection is some of the best in town.

Videogames Too

Gamers will be pleased to know that this cafe offers Xbox 360 and a number of games. You can also rent from a long list of movies or watch a movie there.

If you can’t find what you want and or need help with anything, all you have to do is ask. In fact, what really makes Idea Connection one of the best, perhaps, the very best, internet cafes in San Pedro and around the lake are Luca and Max.
No matter how busy the place is, either will take the time to help with your computer problems. Luca spent more than an hour on my laptop, downloading virus software and making sure everything worked properly, yet never once ignoring the other customers and their needs.
